Producer “State of Belief” PDF Print E-mail

Position Description:  Since Interfaith Alliance launched State of Belief as a radio show four and a half years ago, it has been at the forefront of the dialogue on the intersection of religion and politics in America. The producer will have the opportunity to take State of Belief to the next level by overseeing its expansion to new broadcast and web based platforms. Working directly with the host of the show, Interfaith Alliance President Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, the producer will develop and shape the weekly radio program. Working with other staff, The Producer will also oversee the expansion of State of Belief’s web presence to become a destination for the discussion of religion and politics.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Deciding on content and program scheduling
  2. Researching and booking guests and assisting host in preparing interview questions
  3. Generating ideas for programs and pitching these to the host
  4. Scripting the show each week, including intros, outros, News Headlines, Intersection Awards, and listener feedback
  5. Delivering the script with appropriate time for edits
  6. Editing down interviews and recorded content/approving final versions of the show
  7. Coaching the host through taping
  8. Serve as a liaison with stations carrying the show
  9. Delivering finished show to stations for broadcast
  10. Responding to listeners' comments and questions
  11. Overseeing the expansion of the State of Belief web site and blog
  12. Generating ideas for, and supporting the promotion and marketing of, the show with Interfaith Alliance
  13. Representing State of Belief and The Interfaith Alliance at public functions
  14. Further developing the show's identity
  15. Upholding the integrity of the show and the reputation of Interfaith Alliance

 

Qualifications

  1. Experience in producing radio programming
  2. Proficient in Adobe Audition
  3. Superb organizational ability.  Able to juggle multiple tasks and take initiative. Known to remain cool under pressure and meet all deadlines.
  4. Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
  5. Excellent communication and interviewing skills
  6. Experience in web site maintenance and blogging
  7. Ability to work collaboratively
  8. Commitment to organizational mission
  9. Knowledge of religion and the religious community preferred

 

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience.  Benefits include three weeks vacation, full health, dental, life, and disability insurance,  and a 403(b) retirement plan.  Women, people of color, and people of minority faiths strongly encouraged to apply.
