Interfaith Alliance Foundation is seeking a Full Time Coordinator for its LEADD (Leadership Education Advancing Democracy and Diversity) program based in Washington, DC. Candidates should be highly motivated, task oriented selfstarters with experience working with both high school students, adult clergy and lay religious leaders. Candidates should have 2-3 years of work experience in related fields. An interest in public policy, American history and particularly first amendment issues is a plus.


About LEADD
LEADD – Leadership Education Advancing Democracy & Diversity – is an innovative weekend program for high school students that provides an immersion experience in both the history and current status of our country’s unique tradition of religious freedom. LEADD was created to help foster a truly pluralistic American society by bringing together groups of radically diverse young people for training in addressing disagreements through civil dialogue and learning the benefits of mutual respect and cooperation. LEADD is a project of Interfaith Alliance, a national organization that celebrates religious freedom by championing individual rights, promoting policies that protect both religion and democracy and uniting diverse voices to challenge extremism.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director of Outreach and Operations to coordinate all aspects of the LEADD program including logistics, site selection, budgets, funding, recruitment and program development.
  • Ongoing evaluation of the educational program with an eye towards incorporating issues relevant to the participants.
  • Develop a plan to keep LEADD participants connected with each other and with Interfaith Alliance during and after the weekend sessions.
  • Network with religious leaders, faith groups, community organizations, schools and Interfaith Alliance affiliates to engage them in bringing LEADD to their communities.
  • Screen student applicants, along with potential LEADD faculty and staff members.
  • Act as liaison with hosting venues.
  • Work with Communications staff in ongoing marketing efforts.
  • Contribute to other aspects of Interfaith Alliance’s work, as needed, particularly its work with local affiliates.


Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of demonstrated relevant work experience (not including internships or summer jobs) in related fields.
  • Ability to work with high-school-aged students.
  • A strong commitment to the goals of the program including religious freedom and pluralism.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • A finely tuned attention to detail, balanced by an ability to multi-task and to work under strict deadlines.
  • The ability to manage other staff, interns and volunteers in the LEADD program while functioning as a team player with other staff at Interfaith Alliance.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm, a propensity for original thought.
  • Willingness to be screened to work with youngsters, including background checks.
  • Willingness to travel
