Welcome to the Interfaith Alliance Intern Program

Throughout the year, students from around the country intern at The Interfaith Alliance. Interning at The Interfaith Alliance gives them the unique opportunity to explore the various faith traditions represented in our diverse nation and to see first-hand the religious liberty at work. In addition, interns also work in a specific department, including development, program, or policy to learn about the specific rewards and challenges inherent in non-profit work. As full members of the The Interfaith Alliance staff, interns are expected to contribute to the daily tasks and ongoing projects.

The Interfaith Alliance and The Interfaith Alliance Foundation offer key intern position areas.

Full and part-time fall and spring semester and summer internships are available and open to all college and graduate school students. Application to the Intern Program is competitive, while most applicants demonstrate an on-going interest in pursing collegiate studies in issues concerning religion and public policy, we also encourage those studying non-profit management, marketing, english, there are no restrictions.

All qualifications must include strong interpersonal, writing, and computer skills; the ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative; and, a significant degree of organization.

Communications
  • Assist in implementation of media strategies and marketing campaigns;
  • Write press and Web materials related to the intersection of religion and politics;
  • Assist in outreach to press in regional and state markets including broadcast, cable, print, and on-line media;
  • Evaluate communications activities by tracking audience reach of media hits and Web traffic; and,
  • Archive public documents and maintain databases pertinent to communication strategy.


Development
  • Assist in outreach and logistics planning for major fundraising events;
  • Conduct research on prospective individual, corporate, and foundation donors;
  • Write letters to donors in response to their questions about our issue positions; and,
  • Develop promotional materials for donor outreach
  • Write and edit mailings that will reach thousands of members

 

Field/Grassroots Organizing
  • Assist in maintaining contact with local Interfaith Alliances across the country, which includes maintaining records that relate to events and activities;
  • Event planning for local and national events;
  • Research and develop resources; and,
  • Attend coalition meetings to keep TIA abreast of coalition strategies and relevant legislation.
