Interfaith Alliance’s Rev. Welton Gaddy to moderate panel of chaplains
Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, February 16, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., United States military chaplains of the Jewish, Methodist, Muslim, Baptist and Reformed Church in America traditions will come together to share their thoughts on issues facing the chaplaincy today. The Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy, President of Interfaith Alliance, will moderate the discussion. Interfaith Alliance is hosting the event in conjunction with the Veterans History Project of the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress.
The panel will consist of Rabbi and Army Reserves Captain Jerry Seidler, Chaplain and Navy Capt. John H. Lea III, Chaplain and Air Force Lt. Col. Lisa H. Tice, Chaplain and Navy Lt. Cmdr. Abuhena Saifulislam, and Chaplain and Army Lt. Col. Carleton Birch. The panelists will discuss contemporary issues they experience in their work as military chaplains, as well as how they balance their role ministering to people of all faiths while at the same time staying true to their individual doctrines and beliefs.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
