Washington, D.C. – Interfaith Alliance President Rev. Dr. C. Welton Gaddy released the following statement in response to the official end of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.

Today is a great day for our nation. At long last, any American citizen who wants to serve his or her country can do so openly, and with integrity. Hiding one’s identity is now a thing of the past in the armed services. Never again will sexual orientation be the basis for denying someone the ability to serve in the military of this nation. By repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ we have taken one giant step closer to full equality for all Americans, a goal essential in the founding vision of our Constitution.
