Interfaith Alliance Applauds ‘Historic’ Supreme Court Nomination, Urges Senate to Examine Judge Jackson’s Commitment to Religious Freedom

WASHINGTON—Following President Biden’s historic announcement nominating Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the Supreme Court, Rabbi Jack Moline, president of Interfaith Alliance, released the following statement:

“In announcing his first Supreme Court appointment today, President Biden made one of the most important decisions of his presidency. It is one that will impact the lives of every American for decades to come. His choice of Ketanji Brown Jackson is historic and fulfills his commitment to bring new perspective by adding the first Black woman to the court in US history. With this morning’s announcement, President Biden has put forward a nominee with impeccable credentials.

“It is now the responsibility of the Senate to thoroughly vet Judge Jackson and ensure she is the right choice for our country. As we have for previous court nominations, we will ask the Judiciary Committee to probe into her views on religious freedom and protecting the boundaries between religion and government.”
