Rabbi Jack Moline, president of Interfaith Alliance, issued the following statement:
“Today’s Supreme Court decision upholding President Trump’s so-called ‘travel ban’ is an abandonment of the values on which this nation was founded. Two branches of our government have now gone on record as being willing to single out certain people based on their faith. This administration has done more to undermine our standing in the world than any other in American history. Having the highest court in the land back President Trump while Congress sits silently and watches is a sad, but not unexpected result. I suspect this is not the final word on this matter, and Interfaith Alliance will do all we can to move Congress toward action that undoes this un-American outcome.”
Interfaith Alliance is a network of people of diverse faiths and beliefs from across the country working together to build a resilient democracy and fulfill America’s promise of religious freedom and civil rights not just for some, but for all. We mobilize powerful coalitions to challenge Christian nationalism and religious extremism, while fostering a better understanding of the healthy boundaries between religion and government. We advocate at all levels of government for an equitable and just America where the freedoms of belief and religious practice are protected, and where all persons are treated with dignity and have the opportunity to thrive.
