No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.
Rise up with us for No Kings II, 10/18Chicago Metropolitan Area, IL
We envision a world where individuals of all faiths and backgrounds coexist in harmony, free from fear and discrimination. In this future, understanding and respect replace prejudice, fostering a global community that celebrates diversity and promotes justice. Together, we aspire to cultivate environments where every person can express their beliefs openly, and where the richness of different cultures and traditions is embraced as a source of strength and unity.
Our mission is to combat Islamophobia by promoting understanding, respect, and inclusivity across all communities. We are dedicated to raising awareness about the realities of Islam and the diversity within the Muslim experience, challenging stereotypes and misconceptions through education, advocacy, and storytelling, especially in faith communities. Our strategy involves three elements: engagement across faiths, education of faith communities and mobilization of the network when there is a need to respond to current events.
The Rev. Drs. Anna Piela and Michael Woolf—ordained American Baptist ministers, scholars of religion, and dedicated advocates against Islamophobia—are the co-founders of Challenging Islamophobia Together Chicagoland. They also serve as co-associate regional ministers for white and multicultural churches within the American Baptist Churches of Metro Chicago. Together, Rev. Dr. Piela and Rev. Dr. Woolf are influential leaders in Chicago’s interfaith and social justice communities, working in close partnership to promote understanding and confront religious discrimination. Their forthcoming book, Anti-Islamophobic Church, will be published by Judson Press in January 2026.
