IASWFL brings together people of many faiths and no faith, clergy and lay members of diverse faith communities. We come together based on shared values, including a commitment to inclusive religious freedom and democracy. We believe that all people have intrinsic worth and are entitled to equal rights, dignity, and respect within our society. We believe that religious and cultural diversity is essential in building vibrant communities
We believe that religion and government must be separate. We believe that religious and political extremists are a threat to individual liberty and democracy. A Strategic Plan adopted in 2024 guides our work into three areas: supporting public education, building interfaith relationships, and protecting human rights. Challenging Christian nationalism is a continuing theme in this work.
