WASHINGTON, DC – Interfaith Alliance, a national leader in defending religious freedom and multi-faith democracy, celebrated the massive turnout of millions of people at over 1,000 peaceful “Hands Off! protests across the country, lauding the mobilization of diverse faith communities and religious leaders to participate in the rallies against the authoritarian overreach and anti-democratic policies of the Trump Administration.

Interfaith Alliance helped organize and push for major turnout for today’s protests among religious communities. The group hosted a National Call to Action for Faith Communities on Wednesday, April 2nd, in partnership with MoveOn, Indivisible, Faith in the Action, Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, Emgage, the Kairos Center and the Horizons Project.

“Today’s inspiring protests sent an unmistakable message – Americans, including religious Americans, are fed up with Trump and Musk’s assault on civil rights, good governance, and multi-faith democracy,” said Rev. Paul Brandeis Raushenbush, president and CEO of Interfaith Alliance, who participated in today’s Sarasota, Florida rally. “Diverse faith communities continue to show moral clarity, mobilizing against this administration’s attacks on religious freedom and core principles of justice, equality and compassion. Even under repeated attacks, religious groups have refused to sacrifice their integrity at the golden altar of power and are courageously fighting back.”

Today’s protests marked the largest day of collective action since Trump’s inauguration. Interfaith Alliance will continue to play a critical role in organizing faith leaders, congregations and communities to defend civil rights, democratic freedoms and good governance – and spotlighting the leading impact of faith groups in the broader resistance to authoritarianism.

Rev. Raushenbush is available for interviews to discuss the faith community turnout at today’s Hands Off! protests and the broader impact of this growing movement.

Interfaith Alliance Condemns New Brutal ICE Killing In Minnesota, Urges All Faith Communities to Mobilize Against ICE

On Saturday in Minneapolis, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents brutally attacked and then shot to death Alex Pretti, a registered nurse who appeared to be filming the agents and coming to the aid of a legal observer. This latest horrific murder of a civilian bystander by armed federal agents comes just over two weeks after the murder of Renee Good during an otherwise nonviolent encounter.
