Skye Perryman, Chair of Interfaith Alliance Board’s Policy Committee, Named to TIME 100

April 17, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC – Skye Perryman, president and CEO of Democracy Forward and the chair of the policy committee of the board of Interfaith Alliance, was named this week as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025

Interfaith Alliance congratulates and applauds Skye on this well-deserved honor, which recognizes her tremendous, innovative leadership defending our democracy and civil rights from authoritarian pressure.

“In the crucible of the first few months of the Trump Administration, Skye and Democracy Forward have been a critical beacon of hope and expertise, challenging illegal policies in our courts and helping to organize and equip a wide range of organizations to push back. In representing religious communities against the incursion of ICE into sanctuaries, she is directly protecting religious freedom, which is at risk right now in America” said Rev. Paul Brandeis Raushenbush, president and CEO of Interfaith Alliance. “Since she joined the board of Interfaith Alliance, our organization and movement to uphold religious freedom and mobilize faith communities in defense of democracy has benefited tremendously from her strategic guidance.”

“My tradition and the work that I do to stay grounded is really about community and connection,” Perryman said. “That’s why I so admire the work that Interfaith Alliance does, the community it is for me as a person and for so many across the nation. Interfaith Alliance has played an important role in connecting faith communities to legal and other strategies that are essential for protecting freedom in this moment.”

Interfaith Alliance is building a courageous pro-democracy faith movement to effectively counter the Christian Nationalist right and to demonstrate where most people of faith in the US truly stand. The organization is supporting local organizing infrastructure, forging powerful coalitions of faith-based and secular organizations, and playing a role in key policy and legislative battles in states and communities nationwide.
